Cuts Studs / Anchor Studs are used in the construction industry to anchor structures to the ground or the walls, so that buildings can be framed and create partitions. This means that rooms, and spaces can be divided, depending on their size and predetermined use.

 

The process is achieved by drilling a hole into the floor or the wall and then filling it with a special chemical resin, followed by adding a threaded stud rod. Once it has set, it allows the stud to fix into place.

 

This construction system creates an extremely sturdy anchor point to fix further materials in place to build a structure.

What are Countersunk Socket Screws?

Countersunk socket screws are also known as a allen head screws or bolts. Designed with a hexagonal inset in the head of the screw. The inset enables a hex wrench, allen key or insert bit to accurately drive the screw into the material.

Countersunk socket screws are perfect for using with power drive tools. The hexagonal inset provides an exact fit for an allen key or insert bit. This gives more control when driving the screw, as opposed to a slotted screw whereby the tool can move more freely.

Generally, the countersunk socket screw is applied to a pre-drilled hole to fix two pieces of material together. The screw application should appear flush or just below the surface as it beds into the hole to provide a neat finish.

HDG Countersunk Socket Screws for outdoor use

Available in DIN7991, Hot Dipped Galvanised (HDG) Grade 10.9, in a range of diameters and length and supplied by SRM Fasteners. Our hot dipped galvanised process protects the screws from external weather elements. It also defends the components against possible corrosion and rusting in the rain. By withstanding longevity and reliability through this process, countersunk socket screws are ideal for the manufacture of outdoor garden products, construction, engineering and automotive assembly.

The HDG process involves cleaning the screws before applying a flux solution. Adding to this, plunging them into an extremely high temperature of 460°c molten zinc until the screw itself reaches the same temperature. As the steel reacts with the metal and zinc / iron alloys are formed on the surface which creates the protective coating. Finally, the screws are spun in baskets to remove any residue. This creates a smooth finish before being quenched in cold water and left to naturally cool, ready for preparation to dispatch.

What are galvanised bolts?

Our galvanised bolts, involve a process known as Hot Dipped Spun Galvanised. This process protects the bolts from the external weather elements which defends the components against corrosion and rusting in the rain.

This means that SRM Fasteners’ galvanised bolts are ideal to use in the manufacture of products used outside. Ideal for both commercial and domestic markets for industries such as construction, engineering, automotive and marine, and outdoor homeware our bolts will sustain longevity and reliability.

The process for creating galvanised bolts

  1. In the first instance, the bolts go through a pre-treatment whereby they are stripped back. Their clean base steel is cleaned and any grease or oil contamination is removed.
  2. Secondly, a flux solution is applied to the bolts. This is when the galvanizing reaction takes place so that it can adhere to the fastener.
  3. The bolts are then placed in baskets which are lowered into an extremely high temperature of 460°c molten zinc. They are left until the bolt components increase to the same temperature of the zinc.
  4. Throughout this process, zinc / iron alloys are formed across the surface of the steel as the molten reacts with the metal.
  5. The basket of bolts is then removed from the zinc. At which point the surface of the bolts quickly begins to solidify. The baskets are then spun, so that any extra zinc residue can be removed. This prevents the newly galvanised bolts from sticking to one another and to create a smooth surface.
  6. Finally, the newly galvanised bolts are plunged into a quench tank, to allow them to cool. They are then dried so that they are ready for packaging and dispatch.
